Getting Through the Storms of Life

FB_IMG_1425820294989We all go through storms in our lives but we also experience sunshine as well. Do you ever stop to ask yourself “Why am I having so much sunshine?” No.  We don’t usual question when we are on top of the mountain feeling the sunshine of what life is giving us. It is usually only in the valley or in the storm that we question “Why me?”

I recently experienced the hardest storm I’ve ever gone through. I literally felt broken into a million pieces.  In the depths of this horrific storm, I really couldn’t feel – I was sad, broken, shattered, and exhausted. Tears rolled down my face, and at times I tried to control them, but simply couldn’t. I had to allow them to flow. And in doing this, it was part of my healing.

I’m sharing this with you to impress upon you that even someone like me, who is always the positive one, always smiling, always helping others, and always the one who people turn to for healing and love, I too experience storms.  Storms happen to everyone! We are given adversity to allow ourselves to grow spiritually and to learn life lessons, so we in turn can help others who may experience the same storm or one similar.

One of my favorite bible verses is 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Praise to the God of All Comfort

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

When we ourselves know first-hand about a storm, we are called to comfort those with the same comfort God gave us. How awesome is that?

As I said earlier this storm shattered me into a million pieces. I didn’t know why I was in this storm. I didn’t even see it coming! I didn’t know how I was going to put myself back together again. When I got home, I fell into bed exhausted. A few hours later I received a call with the outcome of the storm. I couldn’t believe the answer. I instantly broke down and cried for a very long time. Finally falling asleep, I began to dream. I was in my room, with a million puzzle pieces scattered all over the floor. God said “Don’t worry about putting the puzzle together as a whole. I want you to focus on picking up one piece at a time.”  When I woke up that morning, I remembered what God said. I felt peace because he answered my need. I would put myself back together one piece at a time. Remember – God allows us to grow for a reason.

  1. I am sad that you went through such a storm, but you are right. We all endure them and we just have to pick up the pieces one at a time…I understand having been in a whirlwind storm for a few months now. We are here for you. Love your dream. xo

    1. Thank you so much! I know you are a strong woman. We are here for you too. God speaks when I least expect it! But that dream was clear. Love and blessings. Stay strong – LOVE you! xoxo
